Good Books To Read

Is there nothing good on Netflix? Do you find yourself bored to death at home? Are you so bored that you are willing to do almost ANYTHING to relieve that boredom?

Well, do I have the thing for you. READING!!!!! I know that it is not the most popular thing to do currently, because school killed the love of reading for enjoyment. However, there are books that I considered in the MUST HAVE section and will (hopefully 🤞🏽) bring back your love of reading.

I personally love the adventurous, fantasy and murder mystery genres, those are my happy places, so I want to suggest a few books from each genre, and if you guys really enjoyed these books, I might do another blog post about books.

Action and Adventure

For the action/Adventurous genre, I have two books because I couldn’t decide which one I wanted to write about. The first one is ‘Gone’ by Micheal Grant. This is a series (now that I think about, most of the books Im suggesting will be), that I am currently reading. I am on the 4th book, and I honestly keep falling in love. ‘Gone’ is a survival/apocalyptic book, but it’s not your typical “AHHHHHHHHH ZOMBIEEEEESSSS!!! RUNNNNN FORRR YOUUUURRR LIVESSS”, instead what happens is anyone over the age of 16 disappears, and kids have to learn to not only survive but also deal with this invisible/invincible dome that just appeared.

The other book I am suggesting which is part of the Adventure genre is ‘Scythe’ by Neal Shusterman. ‘Scythe’ is about a dystopian world where humans live forever and this thing called the Thunderhead controls everything and makes everything perfect. WARNING: This is NOT your typical dystopian society, when I was reading this I literally could not have put it down. There is so many twists and turns that you get lost but a good kinda lost and then it all makes sense in the end.

Fantasy

If action/Adventure is not really your style, then maybe fantasy is. This Author has recently written another book and a movie of this book is coming out on Netflix soon. The book/series I am referring to is of course, the one, the only ‘School For Good and Evil’ by Soman Chainani. ‘The School for good and evil’ is about a school (obviously) whose graduates create the famous fairytales that you know such as Rapunzal, Snow White, Alice in Wonderland blah blah blah. However, to get students, the headmaster…KIDNAPS them from a small town named Gavaldon. Gavaldon is where our two main characters reside: The beautiful and glamorous Sophie and the Gothic and uncouth Agatha. The story starts with Sophie wanting to be kidnapped to attend the “good” school and then…you are just going to have to read to find out the rest. Let me tell you, you will fall in love, you will cry, and you will be so happy and thankful you read it.

Murder Mystery

If you are not happy with the other genres, then allow me to present to you a book and an author (The author and the book are unrelated). The book is not a series this time. This book is called ‘The Killer Game’ or also known as ‘The Assassin Game’ by Kirsty Mckay. This book I read so long ago, and I really thought I knew what was going to happen…I did not and I was very much put in my place. ‘The Killer Game’ starts off with Cate going to boarding school where a chosen few play the Killer game every year, where unlike its misleading title, no one is supposed to get kill, but what happens when the game gets too serious?

The author I am going to suggest if you like murder mystery is Karen McManus, which oddly enough starts with a K and has a Mc in their last name like the previous author. McManus’s work consist of ‘Two Can Keep a Secret’,’One Of Us Is Lying’ and ‘One Of Us Is Next’, all of which I have read and I loved every single one them. I couldn’t pick just one of her works so I chose the author herself instead. Read each of these and you will understand.

Okayyy, so if you don’t like any of those genres, I really don’t know what to tell you except that you are heavily missing out. Each of these books holds a dear place in my heart and I hope they will for you too. Please let me know if you enjoyed these and I will suggest more!

Happy reading,

🥨
