And that’s a wrap on term 3 (finally !!). Our lovely but short two-week holiday now awaits us - for those in Australia 😌 For those in the Northern hemisphere, I hope you guys enjoyed your long and hot summer break. While I want to say “great I can chill now”, I can’t ahahaha…holiday homework also awaits me 🥲Regardless! It is important that we all have a break over our holidays (and throughout the school term too!!) and actually take the time to reset.
It is difficult to take some time for yourself when you have important assignments or exams approaching and have deadlines to meet - but resting is really important to help maximise your concentration. It will also help prevent you from burning out real quick. Check out “What makes a good work or study ethic?” for some helpful ideas on how to manage your time well and how to organise your work schedules !
Everyone has different ways to wind down and relax. If you feel as if you have a lot of energy and feel quite restless, exercise! Not only does it let your mind rest, it is benefits your physical health as well. Whenever I worked out, I found that I felt more motivated to study afterwards. It is also great for your body after hours of sitting down on your desk all day - you really do not want to get dead butt syndrome. If your work just required arduous physical activity, watching your favourite TV show or comfort movie may be the one for you! Watching TV shows or movies while eating are the best vibes 😌😌 It’s a treat yourself type of moment. You could also take some time to do your favourite hobbies, such as drawing, reading, journalling, etc.
Sometimes we just need to catch up on lost sleep during the holidays - it is the only time where we can sleep as much as we want. In saying that, naps are also a brilliant way to take a break. I consider taking naps to be the top tier ways to have a break 🥰 20-minute naps are good enough for me, but it can vary from person to person. Through this, I also allow my eyes to have a lil rest too after straining them by looking at a screen for long periods of time. Having breaks from the screen is extremely important - including your phone!! It doesn’t have to be long - at least five minutes in every hour.
Take frequent breaks from your work or study however you may want to do it, and let your eyes rest from the screen. Take the time to reset by doing something you enjoy :)) And stay connected to all your friends and family.
Daily reminder: have some fun !!
